As a commenter noted on Kandi Burruss’ “Ex-Fiance Ashley “A.J.” Jewell’s (Alleged) Murderer a Body Tap Employee“:
I think that this is a case of too much tv/video games/movie watching.
Folks don’t understand that hitting someone on the head with anything can kill or render that person immobile for the rest of their lives.
Rarely can you hit someone on the head with an object or chair (as in the WWF shows) and have them walk away unscathed…
Apparently though folk aren’t getting the message. Real life ain’t TV or film. Those bottles, briks, 2×4’s are real. They don’t break away and they aren’t made out of foam or plastic. They are real – glass, brick, wood or whatever – and they CAN and WILL kill.
In case you missed the memo, here is the rundown of what can (and likely) will happen if you hit someone with just about anything. It’s called blunt force trauma for a reason:
Da Brat
What Happened: Da Brat was convicted of striking an Atlanta Falcons cheerleader in the head with a liquor bottle at an Atlanta-area nightclub.
The End Result: A DeKalb county judge sentenced Da Brat to three years in prison in addition to seven years probation and 200 hours of community service
The Victim: She suffered permanent injuries to her face, as well as possible neurological damage.
Lesson Learned: Hitting someone in the head with a glass bottle can cause permanent damage and land your ass in jail.
Silvanus Shannon, 19, Eugene Riley, 18, and Eric Carson, 16
What Happened: Derrion Albert, 16 was trying to prevent another kid from getting beat up and he ended up hit in the head with a wooden board and repeatedly stomped and kicked.
The End Result: Silvanus Shannon, 19, Eugene Riley, 18, and Eric Carson, 16,are being charged with First Degree Murder.
The Victim: Dead.
Lesson Learned: Hitting someone in the head with “wooden board[s]” can kill them and land your ass in jail.
Fredrick Richardson
What Happened: Fredrick Richardson, a Body Tap employee, got into a fight with Body Tap owner Ashley “A.J.” Jewell outside of the club and hit him in the head with a 2×4.
The End Result: Fredrick Richardson charged with voluntary manslaughter and was denied bond while he waits for his trial to begin.
The Victim: Dead.
Lessons Learned: Hitting someone in the head with a 2×4 can kill them and land your as in jail.
Are you noticing a theme here?
Somewhere, somehow we’ve gotten away from common sense or at the very least, the realization that life is fragile.
Reality isn’t a WWE match where you can get cracked in the head with boards, bottles and chairs and just get up to fight another day.
Talk about senseless violence.
