While her actual sales weren’t too shabby, Mariah Carey failed to grab the top spot with her new LP “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel.” She was beat out by no other than Barbra Streisand and the emo band Paramore:
Senior Songbird Barbra Streisand bars Mariah Carey and Paramore from hitting the number one spot in the Billboard 200 album chart this week with her latest release, “Love Is The Answer.”
Her ninth number one album in a career that spans 60 years, “Love” moved 180,000 copies. The feat also puts her ahead as the female act with the most number one’s in the history of that chart.
Paramore trails Barbra with their CD “Brand New Eyes,” which sits at number two, commanding sales of 170,000 copies for the week ending Oct. 17. They, however, do better in the UK by ruling the album chart there.
Mariah’s “Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel” CD is at number three in the US with sales of 168,000 copies.
