So Universal Music has issued another release date for Lil Wayne’s “Rebirth” rock album and December 15 is the new and (hopefully) final date.
Apparently Wayne plays guitar on all of the tracks and the leaked “Fix My Hat” is the only rap track on “Rebirth”.
Guests on “Rebirth” include Fall Out Boy, Travis Baker, Lenny Kravitz and of course Young Money superstar Drake.
Now with all of that out of the way, does anyone think a Lil Wayne helmed rock album will be a success?
The first single “Prom Queen” topped out at 15 on the Billboard charts, and while that’s not bad, am I the only one who thought the song sucked? And exactly how long has Wayne been playing guitar? Is he even good enough to pull it off?
When the rock album was initially pushed back rumor had it that the studio thought it was awful and sent it back for more work. Maybe that’s when all the “guests” appeared. No offense to all the Lil Wayne cultists, but I barely think the guy can rap – how the hell is he now going to be a bonafide, guitar playing rock star.
On Dec. 15 we will see how Lil Wayne the rock star fairs with fans and if it truly is a “Rebirth“.
